Whatever Happened to Commitment?

I ask this question with the full realization that life is busy for people.  Jobs, children, church activities, and other things crowd out people's time and resources.  What I have discovered is that people do the things that are important to them.  The things that are important often outweigh the time that God has given every person each day.

Now, can we speak frankly? We all do things that are important to us that aren't necessarily important to God.  We willfully choose to do things without submitting them first to the scrutiny of the will of God.  Because of this our commitments often go unmet because life is just "too busy".

Much of this can be dealt with by living a life of kingdom simplicity.  The first pillar of kingdom simplicity is listening to and obeying God.  The Lord never leads us to do more than our time allows.  His leading is always in order and doesn't cause greater stress than we can bear.

Let us submit each moment and action to the will of God.  Listen to him, really listen and seek to obey what He has said.  We can find great freedom and ability to accomplish what is needed because it is within the boundaries that He has set out for our lives, namely, His perfect will.

lol, I'm laughing bc I think the reason why no one has left a comment on this one is bc everyone is too busy! I was almost too busy to read this blog, until I felt like I needed to stop and stare it in the face.

You are right. Whether or not the things on our schedules are fun activities, or 'godly' 'ministry' things, they can still needlessly book our schedules, with God in the back of the room, trying to get our attention. I will be the first on here to repent and say that maybe I need to take a simpler approach to my lifestyle, and not miss what God's really saying to me.
