Jesus: The Original Apostle
Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 07:13AM There are many speaking and writing today of the roles found in Ephesians 4:11. For quite a while I have wanted to blog about these five functions and their place in equipping the saints for ministry. So let the journey begin....
The word "apostle" means one sent forth. Jesus is the original apostle. He was sent by the Father. Here are some verses:
John 3:17 - "For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him."John 17:3 - "This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."
John 17: 21 - "that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.
Since Jesus was the original apostle, those who are modern day apostles should see the apostolic functioning of Him and seek to pattern their equipping ministry after His.
(NEWS BRIEF) In the coming days more entries will be added to the new blog category called "Apostles". I will also be adding new categories for prophets, evangelists, shepherds, and teachers.
